Zanzibar holiday package prices in 2026: 7, 10 and 14 nights
A Zanzibar holiday package with flights starts at about £970 per person from the UK and about $2,300 from the US for a week, sharing a double. These are the lowest prices advertised on 30 October 2026, mostly for May and June. The table gives the range by length.
| Length | From the UK | From the US | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 nights | £970 to £2,200 | From about $2,300 | The advertised prices. The low end is May and June |
| 10 nights | About £1,150 to £2,750 | From about $2,550 | Our estimate: seven nights plus three at the resort rate |
| 14 nights | About £1,400 to £3,450 | From about $2,900 | Our estimate. The flight is paid once, so each night costs less |
Per person, flights and hotel included, four star all inclusive for the UK column. The seven night prices are real offers. The ten and fourteen night lines are our own estimate: the seven night price plus the extra nights at the going resort rate of $85 to $230 per person a night, the range on our all inclusive guide. The flight is the fixed cost, so a fortnight costs far less than twice a week.
Zanzibar packages from the UK
The UK has the most choice. On 30 October 2026, Value Added Travel sold seven nights all inclusive at VOI Kiwengwa with flights from £969 in May and June 2026, rising to £1,649 from late July to August. TUI BLUE Bahari started at £999 on the same dates and ran from £1,129 to £2,199 the rest of the year. At the top, Destinology listed a week at The Residence, half board, flights from Gatwick included, at £2,795 for June and July 2027.
Every one of these flies with a stop. That changes in winter 2027: TUI has put on sale direct flights from London Gatwick from 3 November 2027, on Wednesdays and Sundays until 22 March 2028, with launch prices from £1,615 per person for a week all inclusive.
Zanzibar packages from the US
From the US the choice is thinner and the starting point higher, because the flight alone costs $1,000 to $2,000. Expedia advertised Zanzibar vacations from $2,533on 30 October 2026, and Tripmasters an eight night "Best of Zanzibar Island" from $2,321. Costco Travel had no Zanzibar package when we checked. Many US travellers build the trip themselves, or add Zanzibar to a Tanzania safari.

Types of Zanzibar packages compared
"Zanzibar package" covers five different products. Prices are per person sharing, from the lowest offers seen in October 2026.
| Package | Price per person | Sold by | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flight + hotel, all inclusive | £969 to £2,199 (UK, 7 nights) | UK tour operators, online agencies | Families, a first beach holiday |
| Flight + hotel, room only or half board | From about $2,300 (US, 7 to 8 nights) | Expedia, Tripmasters | Nungwi, Paje, anywhere you can walk to dinner |
| Safari + beach | $3,700 to $6,500 (8 to 11 days, no long-haul flight) | Safari operators, Nat Hab, TourRadar | A first trip to East Africa |
| Honeymoon | £2,795 (UK, 7 nights, pool villa, flights) | Luxury specialists | A villa, a quiet coast |
| Tailor-made (land only) | $2,640 to $4,130 (7 nights, no long-haul flight) | Specialist agents | Stone Town + beach, boutique hotels |
The tailor-made line is the clearest example of where the money goes. Expert Africa quotes a week at Matemwe Lodge and Zanzibar Palace, transfers included, at $2,640 to $4,130 per person without the flight, and Ethiopian from London to Dar es Salaam from $1,740 on top.
What a Zanzibar holiday package includes, and what it leaves out
A package covers the flights, the hotel and the meal plan. Nothing that Zanzibar charges you directly is in it, and online sellers rarely list the extras.
| Item | In the package? | Cost and notes |
|---|---|---|
| Return flights | Yes, economy, usually one stop | No direct flight from the US, none from the UK until November 2027 |
| Hotel nights and meal plan | Yes | Bed and breakfast, half board or all inclusive, as stated on the booking |
| Airport transfer | Often with a UK tour operator, rarely in an online bundle | $15 to $60 each way per vehicle if you pay it yourself |
| Visa | No | $50, or $100 on a US passport |
| ZIC insurance | No | $44 per adult, compulsory, bought online before you fly |
| Hotel infrastructure levy | No | Up to $5 per person per night, paid in cash at the hotel |
| Excursions, tips, drinks off the plan | No | Safari Blue, Stone Town tours and spa treatments are extra |
| Travel insurance | No | The ZIC policy is not travel insurance |
The real cost of a Zanzibar package for two
For a couple on a week, the extras come to about $260 on UK passports: two visas at $50, two ZIC policies at $44 and up to $70 of levy. On US passports the visas cost $100 each, so about $360. Add $30 to $120 for transfers if the package does not include them. The detail of each item is on our visa and travel insurance pages.
On a safari and beach trip, check the insurance on both sides. Since 1 October 2026, mainland Tanzania also asks visitors for a $44 inbound policy. Sources disagree on whether one policy covers both the mainland and Zanzibar. Before a safari and beach trip, check with the insurers ZIC (Zanzibar) and NIC (mainland) rather than your package seller.
Package or DIY: is a Zanzibar package with airfare cheaper?

Sometimes. Booking sites promise to "save up to $2,000", with an asterisk. The only fair test is to price the same flights and the same hotel on the same dates, bought separately, and add the transfer if the package includes one. Visa, insurance and levy are the same either way, so leave them out of the comparison.
When a Zanzibar package wins
- From the UK, for an all inclusive resort. Tour operators buy rooms in bulk and their weekly prices are hard to beat.
- When you want protection. A UK package with a flight is ATOL protected: if the company fails, you get home or get your money back.
- School holidays. When flights are full, tour operators often still have seats from their own allocation.
When booking it yourself wins
- From the US. Fewer packages, and the flight is most of the bill, so a good fare found on its own matters more.
- Two or three hotels. Two nights in Stone Town and a week on the beach is awkward to package and easy to book.
- Small and boutique hotels, many of which are not sold by package operators at all.
To book it yourself, start with the flight, which sets the budget: our flights to Zanzibar guide lists the routes, and the airport transfer page what the ride costs to each coast.

Zanzibar all inclusive packages: the resorts you will see
Most Zanzibar holiday packages are all inclusive, and the same handful of resorts come back in every search. The east coast between Kiwengwa and Pwani Mchangani is where the cheapest offers are. The northern tip costs more and lets you swim at any tide. Whether the plan is worth it on your coast is in our Zanzibar all inclusive resorts guide.

VOI Kiwengwa Resort
Kiwengwa, east coast
About 200 rooms on the east coast resort strip, all inclusive only, with a children's area rather than a full club. The lagoon in front empties at low tide, so the pool does a lot of the work.

TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar
Pwani Mchangani, east coast
207 rooms and three villas, all inclusive, with a kids' club. TUI's own brand, so it turns up in most UK package searches, and it is the flagship hotel of the direct flights from Gatwick in winter 2027.

Riu Palace Zanzibar
Nungwi, north
All inclusive on the northern tip, where the sea stays in all day. Adults only until November 2025 and a family resort since, which many package listings still get wrong. One of the resorts Expedia puts forward on its Zanzibar page.

A safari and beach package is a few nights in the northern parks or at Nyerere, a light aircraft to Zanzibar, then the beach. Count $3,700 to $4,700 per person for eight to ten days at mid-range lodges, without the long-haul flight, on the listings we saw on TourRadar for 2026. A private eleven day trip was listed at $6,469.
Some US operators sell Zanzibar as an extension to their safari. Natural Habitat Adventures prices its 2026 Zanzibar extension at $2,095 to $2,695 per person with its mid-range lodges and $3,995 to $4,795 at the top tier, the flight from the safari included. Its deposit of 25 percent is non-refundable. Which park, how many nights and why the safari should come first are in our safari and Zanzibar guide.
Safari aircraft take 15 kg in a soft bag. A package that starts on the beach and ends on safari means hard suitcases in the bush. Do the safari first.
Safaris from Zanzibar you can add to a beach package
If your package is beach only, a one or two day safari from the island is the add-on. Flights both ways are included.

Zanzibar honeymoon packages for couples
A honeymoon package is usually a villa with its own pool on a quiet coast, sold half board. The Destinology week at The Residence, at £2,795 per person with flights, is a typical example from the UK. Local operators sell seven day safari and Zanzibar honeymoons from about $1,830 to $2,530 per person, without the long-haul flight.
Ask what the "honeymoon" label adds. Often it is a cake, flowers or a decorated bed, so price the same room without it before you pay more. The coast and the tide matter more than the extras: our Zanzibar honeymoon guide compares them.

The Residence Zanzibar
Kizimkazi, south west coast
66 villas, each with its own pool, on 32 hectares of palm garden behind a mile of private beach, with a spa and a kids' club.
From $490 per person a night, half board (2026 green season)

- 1
The headline price is the cheapest week of the year
VOI Kiwengwa is advertised from £969 for May and June 2026, the long rains. The same week in August is £1,649. Put your own dates in before you compare anything.
- 2
The extras are paid on the island, not to the seller
Visa, ZIC insurance and the hotel levy add about $130 per person on a UK passport and $180 on a US one for a week, before any transfer. They are the same for a package and a DIY trip, so add them to both or to neither.
- 3
A cheap resort on a coast where the sea disappears
Most package resorts sit on the east coast, where the lagoon drains for hours at low tide. That is fine if you wanted the pool. If you wanted to swim in the sea at any hour, the northern tip at Nungwi and Kendwa is the coast to ask for.
- 4
Out-of-date hotel descriptions
Riu Palace Zanzibar has taken families since November 2025 and is still listed as adults only in many places. Check the hotel's own site for anything that decides the trip: children, plan, kids' club.
- 5
A long layover hidden in a cheap fare
Package flights go through Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, Addis Ababa or Nairobi. Two packages a hundred pounds apart can differ by ten hours of connection. Read the flight times, not just the airline.
- 6
A non-refundable safari deposit
Safari operators usually ask for a deposit of 25 percent or more, often non-refundable. Buy your own cancellation cover on the day you pay it, not a month later.
- 7
"Save up to $2,000"
Bundle savings come with an asterisk and depend on the dates and the hotel. The only number that counts is the package price against the same flights and the same hotel bought separately.
How to compare Zanzibar holiday packages
Put two offers side by side and check the same seven things on each.
- Exact dates, not "from" prices.
- The coast, and what the tide does in front of the hotel.
- The meal plan, and which drinks the all inclusive covers.
- Flight times and the length of each layover.
- Whether the airport transfer is in the price.
- Baggage allowance, especially with a safari leg.
- Who protects your money if the seller fails.
ATOL in the UK, and what protects you in the US
In the UK, a flight and hotel sold together by the same company is covered by ATOL. Ask for the ATOL certificate: a flight bought directly from the airline and a hotel booked elsewhere are not covered.
The US has no equivalent. Pay by credit card, which lets you dispute the charge if the company goes under. Members of the US Tour Operators Association are covered by its $1 million Travelers Assistance Program, and a few states, California and Florida among them, register sellers of travel. Buy cancellation insurance from a third party, not from the operator itself.
When to book a Zanzibar package, and the cheapest months
The cheapest packages are in April, May and November, the rainy months, and some lodges close in April and May. Prices peak from July to October and from mid December to early January, when it pays to book several months ahead. June is the compromise: the dry season has started, and VOI Kiwengwa and TUI BLUE Bahari were still on their May prices. The month by month detail is in when to go to Zanzibar, and the full trip budget in how much a week in Zanzibar costs.
Questions people ask about Zanzibar holiday packages
How much does a holiday to Zanzibar cost?
A seven night package with flights starts at about £970 per person from the UK in the low season and about $2,300 from the US. Most UK all inclusive weeks land between £1,100 and £2,200. Add the visa, the $44 ZIC insurance and the hotel levy, which no package includes.
What is the average cost of a trip to Zanzibar?
For a week at a four star all inclusive with flights, most UK offers sit between £1,100 and £2,200 per person. From the US, packages start around $2,300 to $2,550 and rise with the hotel and the season. A safari and beach trip of eight to ten days runs $3,700 to $4,700 per person without the long-haul flight.
Are Zanzibar holiday packages cheaper than booking separately?
From the UK, often yes, especially for all inclusive resorts, and the package carries ATOL protection. From the US, not always: there are fewer packages and the same flights and hotel bought separately can come out cheaper. Price both on the same dates before booking.
Is there a direct flight to Zanzibar from the UK or the US?
Not in 2026. Every flight stops once, usually in Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, Addis Ababa or Nairobi. TUI starts a direct flight from London Gatwick on 3 November 2027, twice a week until March 2028. There is no direct flight from the US.
Does a Zanzibar package include the visa and the insurance?
No. The visa ($50, or $100 for US citizens) and the compulsory ZIC insurance ($44 per adult) are bought by you. The hotel infrastructure levy, up to $5 per person per night, is paid in cash at the hotel.
Which month is best to visit Zanzibar?
June to October is dry and sunny, and packages are at their dearest from July. January and February are hot and drier too. April and May are the cheapest months because of the long rains, and some hotels close.
What to be careful of in Zanzibar?
On a package, mostly the small print: the extras paid locally, the tide in front of the hotel, and long layovers. On the island, dress modestly away from the beaches, use registered taxis or your hotel transfer, and agree prices with beach sellers first.
